Havasu Lions Soccer League prepares for another fall season

As summer winds down, the Havasu Lions Soccer League is preparing to welcome hundreds of young athletes, back to the field for another exciting fall season continuing its mission of developing young athletes throughout the community. This fall, the league expects more than 750 players, between the ages of 4-16, across 70-plus recreational teams, in addition to approximately 150 players who compete year-round in the league's club (travel) program.

While player development remains a priority, league leaders say the Havasu Lions' mission extends well beyond teaching the fundamentals of passing, shooting and ball control. Coaches work to instill teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, coaches and referees, all while helping players develop a lifelong love of the game.

The league recognizes that its success wouldn't be possible without the dedication of its volunteer coaches and referees, especially the many youth referees who return each season to support the program. Their commitment plays a vital role in providing a positive experience for every player.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every player registration fee, donation, and sponsorship is reinvested directly into the league. Those funds help keep registration costs affordable while providing essential equipment such as goals, nets, soccer balls, cones, coaching resources and referee compensation.

Registration for both players and volunteer coaches for the 2026 Fall Recreational Season is now open and will remain open through August 23. Any players that register after that date, will be placed on a waitlist for potential openings.

The Fall season is 10 weeks long and will begin in October, running through the beginning of December. Generally everyone will practice and play their games at Cypress Park, with a possibility of some at the old ASU Fields. The league has adjusted to the field shortage Havasu is currently facing by condensing the practice space and lengths along with extending the time slots available. This gives them the opportunity to hold games on Friday nights and throughout the day Saturday.

The league is also seeking community partners through sponsorship opportunities for both recreational and club teams. Local business support helps ensure the league can continue providing a quality program while keeping participation accessible for families throughout Lake Havasu City. The league also announced that details on an upcoming referee certification course will be released soon, offering another opportunity for community members and youth officials to become involved in the program. Those that are interested in becoming a referee, must be over the age of 13, can also email the league to express your interest.
